Wonderfully haunting sound of saw rubbed with violin bow

The continuously fluidlike flowing sound of a saw rubbed with a violin bow reminded me of the at once sad and comforting sound of the old single-jet hydraulophones from years gone by --- kind of like a theremin but alot sweeter in tone.

He was definitely playing it, together with some background music. He was playing along with some pre-recorded music. It also sounded like the instrument was electrically amplified, perhaps using the same amplifier as for the pre-recorded music, with a microphone input from the saw blade.

It's a nice try, but I knew what 'decapitate' means. I was actually using 'incapacitate' in a general sense, id est, to make [some]one useless.

I wouldn't usually associate that with being painful. I think you meant that you wanted him to decapitate himself, which would mean cutting off his own head.
