A celebration of Roman, Egyptian or Biblical epics including some of the most beloved films over the past 90 years. Watch as a playlist to get full version (http://www.youtube.com/view_play_list?p=F15B66F8E60DFB65)
Honor, love and death are three themes of great epics. And of course, there are heroes in each timeless tales (e.g, Brad Pitt, Charlton Heston). Famous actresses (and couples): Claudette Colbert, Gene Tierney, Hedy Lamarr and Victor Mature, Rita Hayworth and Stewart Granger, Charlton Heston and Yvonne De Carlo, Heston again with the relatively unknown Haya Harareet, Gina Lollobrigida and Yul Brynner, Diane Kruger and Orlando Bloom, Connie Nielsen and Russell Crowe, Jean Simmons and Kirk Douglas, Jean again with little known Edmund Purdom, Sophia Loren and Stephen Boyd, Elizabeth Taylor and Rex Harrison and again with Richard Burton. Movies include:
The Ten Commandments (1923)
Ben-Hur (1925)
Cleopatra (1934)
Samson and Delilah (1949)
Salome (1953)
The Egyptian (1954)
The Ten Commandments (1956)
Ben-Hur (1959) 11 Oscars
Spartacus (1960) 4 Oscars
Cleopatra (1963)
The Fall of the Roman Empire (1964)
Gladiator (2000) 5 Oscars
Troy (2004)

Music by
Miklos Roszas: Ben-Hur Title Theme
Miklos Roszas: El Cid Love Theme
Hans Zimmer: Honor Him (from Gladiator)
Other Thoughts: The original version came out to about 20 minutes and had to drop Hans Zimmer Honor Him music due to licensingso I had to pick and choose. Why not more than 10 minutes? Its an epic :). El Cid love theme was as substitute for Ben-Hur love theme (I had technical problems of which, there are always many).

  • what got up them? why they del 1st and leave others alone? -- anybody know where copies might be found.

  • Very nicely done. Good job! :-) What music is this?

  • Thank you. I have loved these movies all my life. Your compilation is exquisite. I appreciate your time and effort in sharing these scenes with the world.

  • This conclusion is so moving. Each actor portrayed a character who was strong, good and an example of what a man should be. Spot on ending with Crowe returning to his family. So many emotional finales in such a short space of time! Beautifully done Doug, youve done the epic genre justice with this magnanimous tribute. I hope that every film lover out there gets to see this.
