maybe you already took care of it, but if not, the trick is to unselect "always on top" by right clicking on the taskbar. this will avoid it to "fight" with the GPS application on who should be up front first

I like the beemping noise because it lets me know that the option is being selected. It can easily be removed, but don't want to :)

It's a 1.3GHZ processor, so it should be fine. I haven't used anything faster, so I don't know. The system only has 512MB of RAM, so that might be a cause, but it's fine on how it performs. I'm building another one with 1GB of RAM, so we'll see if it has a diff. result.
