Andrea Pia Yates (born July 2, 1964) a Houston, Texas resident, is known for killing her five young children on June 20, 2001, by drowning them in the bathtub in her house. She had been suffering for years with severe postpartum depression and psychosis. Her case placed the M'Naghten Rules, a legal test for insanity, under close public scrutiny in the United States

Man!!! I don't understand people that can wake up and decide to kill there love ones especial kids. At the end of the day we as people can not judge her, that's the man up stairs job. With that being said "May God have mercy on your soul".

R.I.P sweet children they say it was mental illness that caused her to do it I say its Bullshit! But I hope the guilt finally catches up to her and when it does I hope it hits her HARD and she hangs herself!!!! and even if it was mental still should be no excuse for murder! She does not deserve pity, sympathy or air to breathe!!!

@TheOblivionGirl she was schizophrenic, and in a psychotic episode. she thought she was sending them to jesus. i certainly can't even begin to imagine hurting one of my kids, let alone drowning them, but she wasn't in a frame of mind where she could not hurt them.

i've never excused andrea yates of her crime. but, i'm amazed nothing horrible had happened earlier. she was undiagnosed schizophrenic, was raising and home schooling 5 kids. he husband refused to let her get her tubes tied, or take meds. the doc's begged them not to let her get pregnant, she had just spent 2 years also taking care of her dying father. this poor woman was begging for help, and noone noticed. it took 5 precious babies to die, before anyone noticed.
