A quick burst of rounds Grandsire and down, after a quarter peal of 11 doubles methods at St Michael's, Clyro, near Hay, Radnorshire. The 19th century diarist Francis Kilvert was curate here and wrote at length about the local area. In a further literary connection the local big house was owned by the Baskerville family, friends of Conan Doyle, who wrote The Hound of the Baskervilles here, basing it on a local legend. The bells are by Henry Williams, a local bellfounder (2, 4) and John Warner and Sons (1,3,5), with the tenor weighing 11cwt in G. They are rung from the ground floor and could do with being rung more often, slightly hard work, but OK, and they don't sound bad. Only the tower is old, the rest of the church was rebuilt in the 1850s by Thomas Nicholson.
@MarquisDeCarabasset Next time you are there, inbox me and I may be able to sort a ring out for you. They are not a bad five, although the 2nd is cracked, but it still sounds OK with all the other bells. What do you ring?

Damnation! Every time I stop at Baskerville (I was there last weekend) I always try and grab Clyro, but always thwarted. Ta for uploading the video, shows what I've missed all these years.

@louisisyourgod glad you approve! I love fives, often some of the most interesting of towers/bells.
