Re: Border Collie Attacks Pumpkin

It's A Stick. It's not a dog treat, it's not a piece of sausage. It's just a stick. People seem to think that to get a dog to destroy a pumpkin you'd have to starve it for days and then put food it it or something weird like that. I can understand and appreciate the concern the the dogs welfare, but it's misplaced. All of the dogs are very well loved and cared for.

I loved the video of the pumpkin being torn to pieces, I thought that it was really cool to see a border collie so motivated to get something out of that huge pumpkin! There was never any doubt in my mind that the dog was being forced to do anything, as Dixie tried to attack the pumpkin before you even put the plug back in. Also, the fact that everyone came over on command and accepted the treats right out of your hand shows absolute trust and love (even if it is just for the food).
