Hi Aimee, Thanks for your posting on youtube. I wasn't actually in the Scots Guards but played for that year in '84 as a guest snare drummer for competitions only as they were short on drummers at the time. I usually stood between big 'Tam Todd and your dad. They were a great bunch of guys and we all got along well. Unfortunately, I didn't get any pic's of my time playing with the band (very silly of me as i'm a photo' nut) so i can't help you there, sorry. Best regards, Tony
@tonyu49 Hi I'm one of Sid's daughters (Tom), we have just come across your post... Yes my Dad did pass away on 25th July 2009, very suddenly. We have been trying to find some footage or pictures of him in his Scots Guards days, he was very proud of his time there... do you or do you know of anyone else who might have pictures including him? It's was nice to see the good things you were saying about him, he had a great sense of humour and he's greatly missed. Aimee
Aye, I know Ian Fraser was 1SG, he was in the band when they won the Worlds (Grade 2) in '84. I was there, playing. Webbie' was a sergeant in the band then and promoted to P/M 2SG later on.
Great video sounded really good. I used to be in 2 SG Pipe Band '87 to '91. Gordon Webster was the Pipe Major abd Colin Ayling was the Drum Sergeant. 2 SG had a competition season '88 - '89 including the worlds, if I remember correctly the only prize we picked up there was m & d! I should think so too! Some great memories. Sadly 2 SG is no longer in it but a Scots Guard is a Scots Guard. All the best guys
Shocked to hear about 'Sid', that's a real choker. When I 'guested' with the band the year of the World's win in '84 I stayed at Otterburn for a week before we played at Aberdeen where we were 'robbed' of a prize by 'bent' judging. Formed a good bond with 'Sid' and we were always crying with stupid schoolboy laughter. Great times, great guys and a top class band. All the best to all out there. Tony U'
I don't think this is the Scots Guards of the Brigade of H. M. Guards!
An Association Band perhaps?
