no depends on which series of marshall it is, the series 1 and 2 run ome way the series 3 and 3a like this one have a high and low box so run the other way. A hot bulb or semi diesel will run both ways but not a field marshall as its a full diesel.

maybe when used stationary you could run the egine backwards so you did not have to cross the belt?

i know they can run both ways but if you start the engine in reverse,then youll only have 1 forward gear anf 4 reverse!!! i know the old aeriel golden arrow was famous for starting up the wrong way,without the rider knowing,you'd put it in gear and go to accelerate away and end up flying off backwards!!
