If they actually made an action figure line of people who lost presidential elections, I would seriously buy every single one. They're some of the most hilarious people in history.

Yeah, I don't believe that for a second. If so, actual civil rights groups would be up in arms about it, not a bunch of file-sharing sites and 4Chan. Seems most likely it's just scare tactics from the very same people I'm talking about; those who don't want to pay for their copyrighted material. It's not like the internet subculture has a long history of being either honest or moral.
Besides, if the government wanted to shut down a website, they'd just shut it down. They've done it before.

You still dont fucking get it. SOPA allows the govt. to shut a website down EVEN IF THEY HAVENT INFRINGED. That's what everyone is objecting to.
Stupid fuck.

Exactly, you just said it yourself. They stand to lose more, meaning they're doing it because they don't want to take responsibility for any copyright infringement, not due to some sense of altruism. If they said this right out, then I'd probably be okay with it. But calling it "censorship" and breaking their own founding doctrine by blacking out info for people who have nothing to do with it either shows a lack of principle.

why not? That was the reason I was against it. I don't have bittorrent. I dont use Megaupload (well, nobody does anymore!). I do have a website. Wikipedia of course stands a lot more to lose than i do for being shut down by a malicious accuser.

You don't really believe that's the reason such people were against SOPA, do you?

SOPA extended way farther than online piracy. It would allow the govt. the authority to shut down any website indefinitely with just the accusation of usage of copyrighted materials, without any evidence or arbitration. It was a gross violation of the 8th amendment. Educate yourself, then your opinions will be valid.

Wikipedia blacked itself out in solidarity to online piracy, remember? It even made the news.

No, what Wikipedia does is throw a temper tantrum when someone dares threaten their access to their illegal downloads of copywrited material, and violating the very principles the site was found on and causing all the good and objective admins to flee, leaving only those who care nothing for such things and will very likely abuse their powers against anything they disagree with.
Ergo, they are not an objective source.

Um, yes it is. See all those floating blue numbers in the text - click on them and you'll see a world of wonder called outside third party sources. All Wikipedia does is summarize that information for your convenience; you're more than welcome to read the entire text(s) yourself though.
