People tend to have the government they deserve. If the people of greece were willing to blindly accept lavish social programs while not accounting for how the bills would be paid than that is willful blindness and implies culpability. Who should pay for the mistakes of the greeks if not the greeks?

It's so very sad the situation that Greece is currently in and if what you say is supposedly true then Goldman Sachs should be shot. That's taking advantage of a small already ecomomically weak country. Sweden, France and many other countries were socialistic for decades ans some still are andfor your consideration, peopla have better lives there.Yugoslava was Socialistic and before the war they had the highest standards of living, with 99% of the population being able to go to university if wanted and universal health care for free.

so let me get this strait. Goldman Sax is responsible for Greece spending money and then using an accounting trick to cook their books? I dont doubt G S was involved in crony capitalism I just dont think you are blaming the right people. If Greece was not able to borrow in this way to this extent, then they would not be in a debt crisis.
