I agree more calories are burned with Turbo Kick. Usually I do turbo and then Zumba afterwards as a "cooling off". I think if you're just starting out you should start with Zumba then work your way up to turbo. Zumba's more fun but turbo's a better workout and is fun once you get into it.
Not true at all about Zumba being a better overall workout. You CAN make modifications and it's made so EVERYONE can do it. Lots of people like Zumba, lots do not. Let's not make blanket statements like that. I've seen people of all ages, sizes and fitness levels do this, at THEIR level.
@Vipto69 not true I started out at 220..not tiny and I have lost 50 lbs doing turbo kick! Anyone can do it. I have arthritis in my back and I can still do all of the moves.
This is for everyone. I have been teaching for over 20 years and I teach all levels in my classes. My oldest member is 70 and she even does full pushups with us. By the way I am 55 and still going strong. If at first you can't do this workout...modify it until you can. Set goals...it's FUN!!!
wow bravo for being 50 and going for an instuctor training-impressive. What vipto69 is refering to is that most people do not move this fast and you probably cant move like these people. I have been dancing for over 20 years and I wuld not teach my class to move this fast. Even though they have a person doing modifications-this is a difficult routine for all people. Zumba dance fitness is a much more efficent program.
I beg to differ about the comments that this isn't for the general public. I just took the instructor training 2 weeks ago. Granted, I will be 50 next month, and am 30# overweight, a sawed off 5'1", but I took the round home and am working on it every day. I LOVE this workout. I think if I can do it, it sets an example that the general population could. It is too much fun to discount so flipantly. The teachers are very knowledgeable and wouldn't steer anyone the wrong way.
