Dickens - The Malton Connection

Maltons links with Charles Dickens stems from his close friendship with Charles Smithson, a solicitor based at offices in the towns Chancery Lane. It is believed that Dickens used the Chancery Lane offices as the model for Scrooges counting house in A Christmas Carol.

This video shows some of the towns landmarks and features the shutter opening ceremony, with the television celebrity Selina Scott and Mr Ian R. Wray who is the Great, Great, Great Nephew of Charles Smithson and author of Dickens The Malton Connection.
