LOL at the people that think he did long division and partial fractions in his head. He just factored out the entire thing in his head, and then for the last term easily saw that 1/(1-x^2) is the same as 1/2*(1/(1+x) + 1/(1-x)).

All you people that looked at the integral and even thought of long division or partial fractions for this particular problem would be far too slow compared to what this guy did. Half the challenge is how fast you can do the integral.
