  • I just got a nova G3 and it runs true. Why don't you send it back and keep sending it back until you get one that is true. China does seem to have quality issues so get what you paid for. Things are not what they used to be and it is up to the consumer to sort out the bad ones.

  • That's exactly what I did - 3 times (Craft Supplies USA customer service was terrific!!!)

After the 3rd chuck and insert it became obvious that the machining was off.

Wound up getting a Oneway chuck with the 1 1/4 x 8 insert - worked great, runs true.

  • For the life of me I have never understood why the wood turning community has never embraced some of the workholding tricks used in the metal working community. Not items like the 3 and 4 jaw chucks but the things such as 5C collets and expansion collets. At a show 6 years ago I asked the guy from Robust as we have similiar machining backrounds and what I got was is that such stuff is generally outside of their experience so they don't consider it

  • The precision mini tightening is great & spins true. The super 2 on sale at craft store for 119 spins true, however one pinion sticks in 2 or 3 spots when tightening with wrench. Most likely better than other import chucks with worse quirks.

  • Nice video. My mini chuck is ok however washers = 1/8" had to be added so the jaws wouldnt grip the hf spindle threads. I'm not impressed with the expensive overpriced newer chuck at all. A look at the companies timeline & history will explain stuff.

  • I had that problem with a chuck and made a spacer to fit between the chuck and the headstock so that the chuck locked against the spacer before it reached the end of the spindle thread which then kept it square on the thread.

    Worth a try?

    Best Wishes,

    Brendan
