during a race where during the transition, is there always set spot where you supposed to put the bike or can you just drop it anywhere

it depends on the event your doing. if its a larger event such as the chicago triathlon they will most likely have racks for your bike. if its a smaller race then you may have to lean your bike up against a tree or just have it on the ground.

I know I probably sound really arrogant, but it just seems like too much time used. For me transitions could win or lose the race, so I was looking for a fast transition to watch.

I guess in Ironmans transitioning isn't exactly a make-or-break thing, but why would you tighten your laces during the race?
