Spokeo is a data aggregator - no different from those of the past. But that doesn't mean we shouldn't pay attention to it. Identity theft speaker John Sileo shows you how to opt out at http://www.sileo.com/spokeo-scary-bad-how-to-opt-out/
There are other sites, companies and unwanted marketing that you can opt-out from. Your personal information is collected, sold, and resold. It is generally used to determine credit risk, and marketing departments use it to sell items to you. The more you eliminate this buying and selling of your private data, the lower your risk becomes. As you learn of companies and organizations that collect your data, opt out of their information sharing. You opt out by calling the number on your statements or cards and asking the respective companies about their privacy policies. If they are written in legal gibberish, tell them that you dont want your personal information to be shared with anyone (including other subsidiaries of the same company). Ask to be removed from all junk mail and marketing lists, telemarketing lists, and any other form of marketing campaigns. Tell them to stop sending convenience checks, courtesy checks, preapproved credit cards, or any other form of credit.
As you start to go undercover, you will begin reducing the quantity of information you share within and between companies. This lowers your chances of identity theft, and saves you time opening and shredding useless but potentially dangerous mail.

@batmanbeyond400 all your doing is just removing your account. This don't mean you removed the information about yourself, nor deletes your activities on the internet. Understand what spokeo done, so has other's done. your IP is log where ever you go on the internet what ever you do on the net.like calling an answering machine, just you hang up don't mean the info is gone.

WOW thankS, They should show the guy who did 30 years for this kind of stuff. I recently bought a DVD and was given a "free" regrestration with DVIX. When I tried it they said the code was wrong. HOWEVER, DVIX kept my information. and all my efforts to uninstall DVIX have failed. I will have to reformate the computer and hope it delets DIVX!
