Castlevania 1 - Stage 1 + 2 - Vampire Killer + Stalker

I grew up at the dawn of the video game age. When I was a kid I used to play a little game called Castlevania on my spanking new Nintendo Entertainment System. By listening to these video game soundtracks I fell in love with music and eventually developed into a composer myself. One game that always seemed to stick with me was the Castlevania 1 soundtrack. I know there have been several remixes of this song but they always seemed to alter the original score. I wanted to update the technology behind the song, but I wanted to keep it faithful to the original and what it may have sounded like if it had been released today. I also wanted to include the oft excluded prologue and the boss fight music and who doesn't love to get lots of points after a good boss battle? WIN!

The song is great, but what happened to the intro? It's so far out of tune.

I assure you that it's "in tune". It's a little slower than it's supposed to be but lets call that artistic interpretation. The original intro is pretty "out of tune" as you call it. Most of the other musicians even bother to put in the intro,boss fight, or the points at the end. I say to you, who among you doesn't like points?

Thank you very much. Synthesizers have come a long way since 1987. They did awesome with what they had but I thought it was time for a real update not to transform it into metal or techno or what have you.

I am going to release Castlevania I - Stage 3 (Wicked Child) really soon and then I am considering remaking Super Castlevania IV (SNES) or perhaps Symphony of the Night (PSX). I'm thinking about some old school Zelda too (NES, SNES).
