In 1976, Vincent and I worked on our first film project
in the Mount Adnah Cemetery above Lobster Cove in
Gloucester, Massachusetts. Vincent's only instructions
were "Shoot my shadow." What resulted was a silent 15-minute film called "God and Country". I screened a couple of times then put it on the shelf where it sat for thirty-two years. After Vincent's death, on Christmas Eve 2007, I threaded up the projector and transfered the super-8 images off the wall. I was moved by Vincent lying face up in the cemetery and the shadows on the tombstone and realized it closed the circle, making the
first the last. I re-cut the material into "where I once was..." a film eulogy for Vince. The poem comes from his 1953 book "The House of Time."
