WWW.VIRTUAL-TURBO.COM - Here's some gameplay footage of the TurboGrafx-16 version of Monster Lair. The video and music are both taken directly from the actual Turbo CD version of the game.

  • I had my Monster Lair Turbo CD resurfaced and now it works perfectly. I figured I might as well redo the video since I was never really happy with the way the Mega Drive video turned out. My favorite WB game is still The Dynastic Hero although there are some that would say it's not a "real" WB title since they had to change all the characters and names around.

  • Here's the updated video. This is the actual TurboGrafx-16 CD version of the game. This is a great little shooter. I still love this one even all these years later. Who cares if it doesn't play like a Wonder Boy title? : )

It's the original Wonderboy 3 - Monster Lair from the arcade which was ported to home systems. The Wonderboy 3 The Dragon's Trap or Dragon's Curse was created after this game, because Wonderboy in Monster Land was so popular. ;-)

Wonderboy has had so many different versions, including the Adventure Island series that Westone licensed to Hudson Soft. ;-) I would like to see a new Wonderboy game for today's systems also.

  • This version is so much better than the Megadrive version. The sprites are larger and smoother gameplay.

  • song kicks ass :)

  • that title screen looks like it ripped off Sonic's title screen

  • the music sounds a bit harsh for such a happy game (when compared to the 16-bit cart version)

  • Mega drive.

  • Wonderboy III for sega master system

  • is this a wonderboy spinoff?

  • Actually, this one seens more to the Turbo Duo, the TB16 that used CD's... not the plain TB16.
