this album is like a beautiful and sad journey through life. feelings of depression, loneliness, memories, old friendships, happiness, sadness, loss, hope and love. it’s a masterpiece. totally unique. everything – the spaced out production sound– the purity of Chilton’s voice – the minimalist guitar/drum style – the use of stringed section. I can’t quite put my finger on it, but the album is nothing like i’ve heard before. magnificent.

@veranka3 you are so right. and it's refreshing that you are aware of that. thank you

Love this.

@oscarlittlebear It means that when lesser artists hide behind irony, sarcasm. kitsch, emotional aloofness, or any number of other approaches, their music isn't as good as it might have otherwise been... unlike Chilton, who put it all out there courageously.

I love how his voice sounds when he says 'take care'

Sad every day...my true love is going away....Take care Baby. I will see you someday
-
take care because once you are going to die
Alex Chilton made the kind of music that timid educated ironic hipsters would make if they were artistically courageous. It's so refreshing and beautiful.

My favorite Big Star song. So sad. RIP Alex Chilton; you will be missed:
"This sounds a bit like goodbye. In a way, it is, I guess. As I leave your side, I've taken the air. Take care. Please, take care..."
