my physical address came out as 00-00-00-00-00-00-00-0e or something like that. WHAT DID I DO WRONG???!!!!!

Will this work for a computer that is directly connected to the modem, by ethernet wire not wireless?

MAC filtering is really helpful. I connect to the internet via a wifi router and found my connection getting slower and slower. And sure enough when I was configuring my router for MAC filtering, I found 2 devices that didn't belong to me connected to my network. Now with MAC filtering in place, my connection's back up to speed again.

or you could just type "dev" without the quotes
in the search bar of your start button and click on device manager,
when that opens double click on your wireless or local network card and go to advanced & click on Network Address,
In the box you'll see 12 digits there you can change your mac address
Much easier & simpler than you'v described LOL

This doesn't change your IP address, it just changes your MAC address. If you were trying to change your MAC address and this didn't work, try it again and instead of disabling and re-enabling the Wireless or LAN card, restart your computer.
