Red Red Wine (stretched 800%) by UB40

Red Red Wine was a song originally written by Neil Diamond in 1968, and was a song that enjoyed modest success. A year later it was covered by a reggae singer, Tony Tribe, who first gave it the unique Jamaican flavor that would distinguish it from the original. Having been influenced primarily by the Tony Tribe cover, the reggae band UB40 recorded a cover of the song in 1983 on their cover album, Labour of Love. Much lighter and upbeat than Diamond's original, UB40's cover became the most popular version, rising to #1 in the charts in the United Kingdom in 1983 and #34 in the United States in 1984.

After discovering the article on Gizmodo concerning the paulstretch program, and having been influenced by stretches of other songs, I decided to make a stretch of one of my favorites. The result is an incredibly relaxing music track, enough so that it has helped me drift into sleep on several occasions. The clashing cymbals blur into sounds resembling crashing waves and the bass beat forming a warm, undercurrent hum.

The stretched version of Red Red Wine reaches a whopping 42 minutes and 41 seconds, although I've unfortunately only been able to upload the first 15 because of youtube's length restrictions. If there is enough of a response, I may post the absent 27 minutes in a pair of companion videos. The cut-down version still manages to be quite soothing though, and I hope you'll find it that way too.
