La strada per Kabul e' un viaggio nell'Afghanistan di oggi, un paese che lotta per risorgere dalle ceneri di una guerra senza fine. E poi nella storia degli Alpini, truppe da montagna, attraverso le due guerre mondiali. Dalle montagne dell'Hindu-Kush, con vette di 7000 metri davanti a distese di terra scura come spezia rossa, nella via della seta, alle trincee insanguinate del primo conflitto. Dalla steppa infinita della disperata ritirata di Russia raccontata da Mario Rigoni Stern e Nuto Revelli, all'unica, necessaria battaglia del secolo breve: la resistenza al nazi-fascismo. Questo ciclo di guerre e montagne ci riporta in Afghanistan, tra i distretti rurali della regione di Kabul, viaggiando con soldati di ISAF, polizia Afghana e Croce Rossa Internazionale. La strada per Kabul diventa così un passaggio per comprendere il presente, guardando al futuro con cuore antico.

The Road to Kabul is a journey into today's Afghanistan, a country struggling to rise from the ashes of an endless war. And then in the history of the Alpini, Italian mountain troops, through two world wars. From the bloody trenches of the first conflict to the infinite steppes of the desperate retreat from Russia, to fight again in the one, needed battle of the last century: the resistance to Nazism and Fascism. And back to Afghanistan, among the rural districts of the region of Kabul with the Italian soldiers. A cycle of war and mountains, to understand the present by looking at the future, with an ancient heart.
