York Stop the Cuts Protesters Storm Council Budget Meeting

7 York Stop the Cuts protesters- (5 on the table, 2 on the ground) jumped from the public gallery and onto the table during today's full council meeting in York. Councillors were meeting to formalise a budget which will contain £21 million pounds of cuts to local jobs and services. This fight back is only the beginning.

Pity that the Tories and LibDems refused to listen to either the protestors or the Labour and Green Councillors who opposed the cuts. Instead 170 people will lose their jobs, services will be sacrificed, and most social care work will be outsourced to private companies who pay even less to low-paid carers. Disgraceful!
