Nintendo 3DS' Black Screen of Death

This shows what it looks like when the 3DS freezes on a black screen. NIntendo recommends returning the system to them for a repair when this happens.

hold down the power button for a while and it will shut off then u can turn it back on and it will work thumbs up so everyone can see this

Ahh.. Technology is what I'm best at c: The 3Ds instruction booklet (I love reading that crap :p) says, If you are too close to a magnet, your 3Ds could over power and shut down immediatly. The black screen of death is actually caused by magnetic force between the iron plates (chips) inserted inside your Ds system. Give it a break, shut it off, it should work in the next few hours.

@Cheesypie23 I rember this happening when I tryed to turn off my 3ds, And I thought to just hold the power button (Just like the wii if it locks up)

take the battery out and after 10 mins put it in and it should work

If it only happened once, it was probably just a glitch. Try not to worry about it, if it was a 1-time thing. If it happened 2x even, take it back to the store if it's within the return period.
