Mechanical bull riding at Hot Z Pizza

"It's a lot harder than it looks," Herman said after his second attempt, which lasted 6 seconds, on the mechanical bull at Hot Z Pizza in Columbia, Lancaster County, PA. His first ride lasted 7 seconds.

"The average is 17 seconds," said Jim Brandt of Phantom Entertainment of Carlisle. "The record is 86 seconds. This guy named Roscoe, at another bar, holds that."

The bull makes an appearance about once every three months, according to Hot Z owner Greg Firoglanis. For the past five years, patrons have paid a $3 cover charge to ride the bull as much as they want.
