This is a short klip I made in honor og the golden age of cinema - The FILM NOIR era...

A lonely street... A man in a hat and a coat slwly smokes a cigaret... A woman in high heels walks by... Mystery from the shadows... That is film noir..

The smusic in ths clip is elegant and smooth - crime jazz.. The song is called "Nuit Sur Les Champs-Elysees", and is from the Miles Davis' album "Ascenseur pour l'echafaud".

  • Well the themes of Film Noir really IMHO don't apply to Casablanca, I mean there's no femme fatale, It has an ending that's more upbeat than most Film Noirs, Film Noir always has darkness, hidden secrets and corruption and betrayal and Casablanca with its themes of patriotism and idealism and fighting the good fight is different than Film Noir at least IMHO, I'm not saying Casablanca isn't a great film just not a Film Noir in the same sense that The Maltese Falcon

and Out Of The Past are.

  • Nuit Sur Les Champs-Élysées from the Miles Davis Album Ascenseur Pour L'Echafaud from the movie of that same title.

  • Looking for those classic (as you said) A lonely street... A man in a hat and a coat slwly smokes a cigaret... A woman in high heels walks by... Mystery from the shadows. Type of movies. Give me some titles.

  • The scene at 0:47 sums up film noir for me!

  • @rhodimer66 Herb's talkin' 'bout killin' me and I'm talkin' 'bout killin' him.

  • Thanks man. You used a track that exhibits Trumpet and not Sax as Sax was never the true voice of Noir until the 1980's. I just finished a neo noir short and used these old films as inspiration.

  • Film Noir and Miles Davis, what a delicious combination.
