In this video I wanted to show how to properly hookup the Motif to the Fantom G for sequencing. This is another way that you can take advantage of the Fantom G's ability to control external instruments. Try this out with other external hardware instruments as this procedure will work with them as well. Good luck and I hope you find this video helpful.

  • Hi Ed, thanks for the videos. They are extremely helpful. Can you apply this to the V-Synth GT? I can only get it to work on Channel 1. How come the other channels don't work? The LSB MSB and Program settings are set accordingly but no sound is coming out. Can the GT only receive 1 channel?

  • @Gametillects Yes. The V-Synth GT only recieves one channel.

  • Can the sounds of the motif be sampled into the fantom and played without the motif being hooked up by midi? For example, if im playing my fantom, can I use the motif strings without midi?

  • I definitely would like to see more videos on how to connect a Motif XS with a Fantom G. I have a bunch of songs on my Motif that I want recorded to the Fantom as audio files, ultimately for web publishing. It would be great to use this setup and avoid a computer based DAW altogether-- I would prefer using these two keyboard workstations to spit out WAV files to iTunes.

  • Thank you SO much for making this, I have all this hardware but could never get it working correctly. I could never find any good manuals online either, this is so perfect and exactly what I have been looking for

  • Thanks for this video on a subject seldom dealt with.

  • Ed, thanks for this and all of your videos, they are a blessing man!!! Question, I see you assigned channels on the Fantom to recognize each of the Motif voices. I don't recall where you set up the channels in the Motif. Can you tell me about where to set up the channels in the Motif. Thanks Bro, you have a great heart for sharing!!

  • @diazeo Thanks Ed!

  • muchas gracias Ed, tus videos me ayudaron mucho para samplear al d-50, a pesar que no entiendo bien el ingles, great!, thanks a lot!.

  • Hi Ed, Rogertronics from Brazil. Apologize for my english...hehehe. You make a great ... great.... great video man! I´m using the Rack XS connected with Juno-G with the same configuration, using the sequencer of the Juno and works pretty good. The Motif uses MSB=63 in all Banks. 0 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 in the LSB presets and LSB=32 for the drums. I thinking.... maybe i make a video in portuguese about this "Killer " Combination. Congratulations!!!!
