Northwest Indiana Railfanning: August 2011

Welcome to the first in hopefully a long line of railfanning videos from J&J productions. At J&J, we show the whole train (when practical), location, train symbol, and locomotives on the train. So sit back and enjoy!

Train 1: NS 18A passing under the old NYC signal bridge at Pinola, on the ex Conrail Chicago line, moving from main 2 to the siding at La Porte. A train was stopped east of here on main 1 setting out a bad order car, causing traffic to back up.

Train 2: 6:40 CSX Q501 at Wellsboro on the old B&O, making lots of noise for the CSX and CN maintainers out working on the diamonds.

Train 3: 10:21 CN M391 at Union Mills on the ex GTW, throttling up after slowly for the diamond work at Wellsboro.

Train 4: 13:23 CN Q149 at Kingsbury, seen from the old Wabash bridge over the Grand Trunk Western.

Train 5: 15:53 South Shore Freight local coming north on the old Nickel Plate branch to Michigan City, bumping across the NS Chicago line diamonds at La Porte. Until a few years ago, this was an NS branch.
