Here is my build of the popular Rebote 2.5 Delay project as offered by www.tonepad.com. This is a $14 PCB where you source and build the rest of the parts. It is actually a great kit for someone looking to get into DIY projects that have to be soldered by hand.

The enclosure is from www.pedalpartsplus.com and I got the source wrong in the video. Sorry PPP! It is kind of hard to tell, but the powder coating these guys do is AMAZING.

The delay is based on the PT2399 chip and is technically a digital delay, although on board filtering of the echo tails makes it sound quite analog. I built two echos in the same box, with echo #1 feeding into echo #2. The connection is via a switching jack so you can use it as two separate echos just by plugging in to the 2nd echo input. Other wise it is a dual true-bypass unit with only a need for 1 input and 1 output. I'd like to have three in one unit, but two works wonders in the end. Build one! It is perfect for synths or guitar and can handle a decent input volume. Very cool and very fun to play with. Thanks for stopping by to check out my new video! - Thomas

PS. If you are interested in custom pedal possibilities, please email me and we'll talk.

  • Wow, what a great pedal! Could you explain the switching jack a little more? I've never used one. If I were using a 3PDT switch would I have two wires coming from the output signal of the delay 1 switch? One to the tip of output jack 1, and another to the switching jack on input 2? Is a switching jack the same as a transfer circuit? For example a Switchcraft 13A? Such a neat pedal!

  • Switchcraft 112a

One lug has a switch (3rd tab between the ground and tip tab) on it that disconnects when a jack is plugged in. I wired the output of delay #1 to this tab on the input of delay #2. Leave a cable out of delay #2 input jack and delay #1 (taps and all) feeds right into delay #2. Plug a jack into delay #2 and whatever is feeding into it comes through without anything from delay #1 since it was disconnected during the plug in to the input jack on delay #2. Helps?

  • can you use this with guitars????

  • Yes, for sure! It is meant for guitar, I just happen to play keys better than guitar. Can be used for any input signal really. Thanks!

  • @djthomaswhite

What is the longest delay time of this pedal?

    Thanks

  • Very nice! You mentioned that you wanted three delays in the one box, and I've actually been trying to find a video of three delays together. What do you think the result would be? Is that something you would possibly use with a feedback loop?

  • you've inspired me to build my own supertweakedout rebote 2.5 dual delay! along with the wnorcott mods in another video found on youtube, and some of my own requirements.. soft touch on switch for "capturing" and repeating only brief moments of playing, and might have to figure out how to get "trails" to make this work. well thanks for the inspiration, this is getting pretty space echoey with the multiple taps

  • it's realy ANALOG? :)

  • @djthomaswhite did u clear coat after the graphics?

  • it deserves more than pink man!

  • anyone want one of the pedals???

I will only send to UK! But... I will build one for £89 what do you think?

Just let me know and i'll get back to you.

    Cheers,

    K1RKYD
