Video games Live - Paris (18/12/08)
The winner of the Guitar Hero contest held before the concert plays Sweet Emotion with the orchestra and Tommy Tallarico on electric guitar. The player bragged he could do the song in Expert mode, and while he was defeated in the end (obviously because of the lag between the image and sound), Tommy gave him the prize anyway.

That "contest" wasn't a real contest... 10 minutes before they opened the doors, they didn't even have they game. They had to buy it at the video game store next door. And when they popped it in the console, guess what ? Sweet emotion wasn't unlocked of course ! So we had to play a different song they choosed randomly, the lag between the picture and the song made it impossible for anyone to make a good score. The staff members choosed Yoann to keep scores (and he won... Curious coincidence...)
Don't get me wrong, I'm sure Yoann would've been able to win that contest (since he knew those songs, and I didn't...), but I would've made a much better score without the lag even though I didn't know the song.
That wasn't a contest, that was a joke... A display of incompetence from the french staff...
I managed to win the contest in the same (awful) conditions than anybody. I allowed any player to calibrate the game, AFAIK.
I was pretty confident in myself but the video was *strongly* out of sync with the guitar on the stage. I doubt you would have made a better score in such conditions (and, no calibration allowed in this case).
However, I totally agree about the lack of organisation from Akouna. Not being able to play Sweet emotion with a properly working guitar was a shame.
I didn't really know the lag was so noticeable even for the public. I managed to do it mainly because I already knew the song, but the guitar solo killed me shortly.
I'm glad I could make it through the stage anyway. Great show \o/

You did a great job regardless! :)
