This Favino built by Jean Pierre Favino in 1988 #1001 is a KILLER!

It stands out heads and tails above other Favinos and I think it is the best that guitar Jean Pierre ever made.

It has a deep rich bass which often these kind of guitars lack and a sweet tone at the top as well - so no compromises on this one!

The guitar is in outstanding condition and Leo Eimers the great Dutch luthier has just tweaked it to make sure it's in top shape.

I must say I've never heard the guitar sounding better.

For me it is an instrument which deserves a good home and by passing it on I hope that whom ever takes it will treat it well and appreciate it.

Stocholo Rosenberg played this guitar for a while when it was new and Jimmy Rosenberg has played it many times including at the Carnegie Hall in New York.

The late George Harrison also played this guitar and all are unanimous in there respect for this great instrument.

The Specs :

Built by Jean Pierre Favino in June 1988 - Number 1001.

A special feature is the special cutaway of the fretboard near the sound hole. The highest note is 2 octaves up from the top e on the 24th fret.

The neck is made from 3 pieces of Maple and the fretboard from Ebony.

The top is in good condition and made from European spruce.

The bridge and moustaches are made from Brazilian Palsinder. The bridge is fitted with a Big Tone pickup.

  • What's that ugly square patch on it beneith the hole? Has it been repaired? ?

I think 11 grand is a bit steep for a Favino regardless who played it (except Django)

  • It's a plastic pick guard to stop erosion of the top where the pick hits it - The Guitar is for sale for 9,000 euros

    Cheers,

  • Holy shit, you are really nolan??! :O

  • Beautiful guitar!!! I hope you find an owner who is worthy of playing it!

  • you should check this guy out!He works in his garage and makes the most beautiful guitars! He made a classical guitar(for the first time) for a prof classical player(he was shit nervous) The guy ordered a 2nd one straight away!

  • Whoever gets this guitar is immensely lucky. I feel bias towards it, being a gypsy boy, I feel it should go to a gypsy boy like me! :P But...being a gypsy means odds are good I cannot afford it haha! Certain guitars are iconic and precious to me, this is one of them. I was outbid a few years ago on Jimmy Rosenbergs guitar he played in a Django Legacy and the one he grew up with. :[

  • Is it the foldable version?

  • @Razorsharpedge Well I make guitars and I would say that 11 grand is a not an unreasonable asking price for a guitar that has been played (owned?) by arguably the top three gypsy jazz players in the world - Stochelo and Jimmy Rosenberg and Robin Nolan!

  • seems everyone can make it sing but you!

  • i would give you 7000 u.s dollars
