I did have grand plans to show you my new AntWorks / Ant Farm in action...but my new ant friends (Lasius Niger / Common Black Ant) are taking it a little bit too easy with the digging at the moment(but still trying to escape!). So here is some nicely detailed macro 16:9 footage of these very clever & very fascinating little chaps spending their days (with their baby-grubs). Enjoy!

  • Poop, you're a sick sadistic bastard. :D

The music is sad because the ants are trapped in a gel-filled container and slowly dying. SLOWLY.

    Yay, science!

  • ant works is crap!! I bought it as my first real ant farm and my ants (lasius niger) crawled out the air holes and dug through the foam on the lid thats ment to keep them in!!!

I'd sugest building your own one... skimatics are easy to find on the net, and its much more cheaper and enjoyable too!!

  • @kozmon0t They're drowned. Ants don't get 'bored'. They sleep for a few minutes at a time, yes. They sit calmly while looking after their brood, yes. But they're not meant for that kind of environment, and that is why the larvae are rotting in that gel, and the workers are either drowned or trying to stay above it.

  • @xXxMetroManxXx Plenty of people find them interesting and take the time to observe them. There's nothing wrong with that.

  • wtf is wrong with you people.. its just ants :S

  • The ants aren't drowning... they're BORED

All these comments from people who've never had an ant farm.

Even in a dirt or sand ant farm, all they usually do is sit around.

They might be more active if the temperature fluctuated. If they think it's too cold, they'll just sit there and wait for daylight.

  • @vinnieismyname the ants are being Tortured. They are to small and not meant for that habitat. They are sticking to the water and will probably drown.

  • @Fryzjer2014 it's hardly torture the gel provide food and water and they are kept safe from natural predators.

  • @ZombieAppReviews You'd be surprised, actually. They are more than that.

  • @gyedc No. Queens are only produced after at least a year of an established colony, even then they must mate with a drone from another nest. The setup is cruel, and it isn't nice to film harmless creatures that are drowning in there.
