Who cares what they're advertising? This could be a commercial for barbecue sauce or fucking Depends, for all that matters. It's beautifully done, it's beautifully filmed, and they picked a great fucking piece for it. Just sit back and enjoy.

Walt Whitman man. You had something going. Your work definitely still influences me. I listen to your words and try to think up of some of my own; but nothing will ever compare to your masterpieces. Your words live on.

I love this commercial, when I first saw I thought it was a commercial to help uplift our spirits about the inflation, recession, jobs and all that politics and remind us we are still the strong Americans that fought for independence, made world changing inventions and made international history and I was excited and pumped till the end when it said Levi's and I felt like crap again. But it was a strong commercial it would make a bigger impact if left the levi part out

your money is well spent when you buy a pair of levi's, though. i have yet to see any other band of jeans take as much punishment and still hold up as well as levi's

I love the Go Forth ads. They've opened up my world to the likes of Bukowski. I love the sound and the imagery. After a few years of watching these I finally went to a Levis store and found I didn't like the jeans. At all. Yet I still love the ads. As a twenty-something I'm ok with these ads. Yes they're corporations co-opting poetry and literature to sell a product, but before these ads, I had never hear of Bukowski. Now I love him. I have a new appreciation for Whitman and these great poems.

Sure, an ad is made in order to instill a desire to buy, buy, buy. I don't think who made the ad should matter. The fact is, a few more people watched these ads and liked them enough to actually pick things up written by Whitman and Bukowski. That's the important part. That's the reason that I like these ads so much. Whether they wanted to sell jeans, and whether they did better in sales after these commercials is irrelevant. They just made a few people learn a little something extra.
