Miner 2049er is a simple, early platformer. Or is it? Find out here in this review!

  • Some things you should know. ANY other version of Miner 2049 is better than the 2600 version. Every other version is faster and contains ALL the levels. The 2600 versions ends at...I think level 10 or something.

I know the other versions had more levels and all looked and played better than this clunky crapfest version.

    Just FYI.

  • Yeah, that's what I hear. But still... 10 levels on the 2600. That's actually impressive.

  • The hell....why did you die?

  • Damned if I know. I think it's just shitty hit detection, or maybe a bug in the game. I just tried jumping over the slide and - SPLAT! Dead.

  • Yeah, nice ending, the game doesn't want to be beaten. The game was like shit, he found out how to play! Shit he's getting close! Kill him!

  • LOL. I think you're right.

  • Yo fui Campeón Mundial de Este Juego.. Mi hermano fue Campeón universal....

  • you ditched the title music...

I love how you included the famicom disk system bios tune. It's a nice departure to your old intro music (taken from "section Z" for the nes).

  • As a child of the 80s this game was great because it was one of the only games we had to select from.

  • What was the game where you had to load the cannon and it shot you up levels I thought it was this 1 but obviously not??? Im sure it was miner something

  • 800xl version kills this...

  • @pocketmego

I don't know what level the 2600 version ended on as I never played it, but the original version of the game only had 10 levels.

  • @pocketmego

The full game has 10 levels. I never played the 2600 version, so I don't know how many it has.

  • The atari 5200 sequal to miner 49er called Bounty Bob Strikes Back is by far the best from all the 49ers...It is also the rarest atari 5200 game by FAR..Also very expensive...Good luck finding one..

  • This is easily the worst port of this game-I would check it out on another console.

  • I remember playing this game back in the early to mid 80's. At the time it was a unique game and I thought that it was really cool and wished I owned that that cartridge. Couldn't find it anywhere. Granted, I was anywhere between 6 and 8 years old at the time and was easily impressed. I got past the first level, but couldn't get past the second.

As an adult, I would admit the controls are very crappy and the game could have been much better with some refinements.
