Coast Guard Video: Crewmembers from the Coast Guard Cutter Forward rescued four fisherman from the Dominican Republic after their vessel capsized 20 miles north of Monti Christi, Dominican Republic April 23, 2006. Thirty-nine people were reportedly on board the vessel and 21 were rescued. (USCG video: Released)

  • There is no "leeward side" up on the foreward part of a 270. The only thing there to break the wind is the gun, and that isn't much of a wind break.

    From what i remember, no migrant is given food or water until they are first given a preliminary examination by the corpsman.

    All of the migrants who get picked up are given food, water, and other necessities. Don't judge things by what you see in a short snippet of video.

  • Interesting. It took the helmsman a while to respond to the rudder command. Great that they got the people, but then why leave them out on deck in the wind? There's always the leeward side... And who cares where he was going, give the guy a bottle of water or something.
