What you said at 10:46 is so true.
Its like for alchool, not everybody who drink is addicted, they just enjoy it. Its exactly the same thing with video games, as long as you enjoy it (even if its for a long period, who cares?-There are people who read a book evryday and may still have balance in their life) and have balanced life afterwards I do not consider it as an addiction. But if you think of it all day, you cant sleep for it then there might be a problem.
Btw, good video.

I played an ass load of Vgs during my child years... I actually didn't care about school until 8th grade... Then I realized video games are just temporary pleasure and I set my priorities straight. It depends on the person to determine whether one "addicted" that's the same situation with marijuana... It all depends on the person

@PDLIFrank Video games aren't as much addicting as they are compelling, aren't they? Addictions alter your brain chemistry, while compelling simply means that it makes you want to play it. I think people are taking this too seriously. They are games. I've never heard people shout "Board game addiction!" Both are fun, & compelling; But neither are addicting. Video games are simply an easy target for "addiction" & supposed "playing till death".

@Hamburgler55 I am not addicted to video games, perhapse you need to re-read my last comment. You can only "recover" if you have a problem. The people you will see/read about in this video could have had psychological problems. Whether it was video games, movies, or music; They could have done this to any of them. But it will always be blamed on video games. Video games are not dangerous, & they aren't addictive. Please research more before you just type something else useless. thx

@Shadowbangg Don't be afraid to admit your addiction, Shadowbangg. The first step to recovery is admitting you have a problem. I pray for your recovery from video game addiction before it is too late.

@type2red I'm sorry to tell you this, but; There is no such thing as "Video game addiction". You become addicted to things because they alter your brain. Alchohaul & Porn both do this. Video games are COMPELLING, & I will say that I am a gamer. I play games ALOT. But I don't think video games are dangerous in real world problems. Mostly it's the decision of the person who plays the games.

I do think video game addiction is very real and i agree with a lot of your points. Video games today have become a cop out for our problems and desires. Video games can lead to bankruptcy and self inefficiency i myself have spent over $2000 in 1 year on video games. No game for me was/is ever enough and usually people who play video games have other addictions like porn or alcoholism both which i have suffered from personally. More importantly the lack of physical activity is very dangerous.

Okay this year was my likley my last year to go trick or treating with all ma buds and have a good time. My friend skipped out for a double xp night. He has such an addiction, as im writing this right now hes playing xbox ( he lives right across the street) and he said he just wanted to play a few games like an hour max.. Its been like 2 1/2 hours. He would rather be alone playing that god damn xbox on a friday night then come hang out...

I can really relate to what you seem to put as a deep nature behind the fenomena of addiction to videogames. I also thing that like all other problems involving dependency, videogames represent the tool that the addicted uses to alleviate his problems, ones with a nature could be easily (or even naturally i might say) unconscious. It's a shame that nowadays videogames are only referred to as a scapegoat in this serious matter, when a in-depth study could prove so much different.

As a Psychology student here in my country (Venezuela) i know for a fact that addiction is a difficult topic to adress, but you managed to pull if off nicely :) Indeed the addiction to videogames is a topic that, perhaps given it's recent nature, hasn't been adressed in a more serious fashion. Let's hope that changes in time, like it did with other disorders that weren't considered serious discussion topic back in the past. Have to be brief, excuse me for my english, great video :)

I wasn't listening. But you should kill from a high vantage point rather than running around and getting killed just as often as you kill. Just saying.

i really find that the pc games are addictive, thank god i have an xbox and its multiplayer is not free! And my rents are smart enough to realise whether i have gold membership or not!
-
Well put man. I agree with everything you said. Excellent video

I know I'm addicted to video games because I could only pay attention to your technique in COD during this video, and the types of guns you use in different situations.

I think Addiction only starts when U play online cause other than that a campain of a game can never be addictive and is beneficial (its like a novel) but dont do silly no purpose games :) online gaming is the thing that wastes LIFE... it just wont help AT all u keep on rewinding a useless thing that does not have any idea or target or end.. Stop Online gaming.. think how silly u are when u PLAY ONLINE

people get addicted to video games because
they suck at everything in life & have no real talent
as long as they can think that they are the best
at anything
even a video game
makes them like they are skilled at something in life , since they are uncomfortable socializing in public .

Thank You so much! I'm working on writing a speech on video game addiction and this really helped!

I know I'm not addicted to video games because........... I wpuld'nt kill or break something just because someone took a playstation from me. REALLY PEOPLE, these kids you hear killing someone over video stimulation are very serious but...... more of the time you hear of mothers suffocating their toddlers or dads beating their children, ya maybe we should work on THEM first
kilsya1 6 months ago
@kilsya1 well seeing how they are two different occurrences there is no reason that we cannot work on both simultaneously, its not like we have a government department focused on working on this like I said it is a personal problem it takes a personal approach, this video is here for people who want to take an introspective look at themselves that is it.

I don't agree with what you are saying about children finding another outlet for their social problems than videogames because you make it sound as though other outlets are equally socially crippling when in fact the child in question might actually take an interest in activities that are as far removed from videogames as can be, e.g. the real world. Sports, music and other activities get others involved socially; Who's to say the child will run from one addiction to the next?
Regenmacher175 6 months ago
@Regenmacher175 I'm not saying that necessarily children will always choose another vice if the habit of video game addiction is broken, what I am saying is that simply breaking that addictive behavior without solving the underlying problems will not help the child become mentally healthy, now it is possible that there was simply a dependance on video games without other underlying issues, but it is not likely thus if we ignore the other problems they will only grown and manifest themselves
