What a great quetion. I'll side with your professor on this one... but the actual number of research methods (while probably finite) in applied work are many. Here's why:

Applied work starts with a client problem. One applies the most rigorous method(s) to the problem that can be utiilized. Hence, applied work demands creativity and multiple combinations of methods to best understand the problem. One tries to adhere to scientific principles to the degree that one can.

  • I am currently studying applied business research on my Masters Course (MBA). My professor is very keen. about finding out how many research methods are there. He argues there are 120+ methods. I don't know if there are any. Here you described five methods but also mentioned there might be 7 and 8?? Is it true that there are more than 100 methods to do reseach?
