The arrival less than an hour ago of our L-1011 at her new home! She was greeted by a large crowd and many cheers! Keep track of her at http://www.ahmhangar.com/

  • Didn't even see the bridge, was looking at the 10-11 ;)

I'm visiting Kansas, as soon as possible!!

  • It wasn't possible to bring her in from the south, because a plane that big cannot get low enough to make that approach from the south. Too many big buildings in the way. Air Force One has that problem at MKC as well.

  • but a big part of this museum is keeping TWA alive. Delta still has plenty of planes in the sky. TW is gone with the exception of the Connie here (and even that isn't flying at the moment).

  • NOooo you have to paint it in the old DELTA colors ... The Delta paint scheme looks like it was made just for the L1011 and everyone associates the L1011 with Delta because they had so many of them.... plus you guys already have a Lockheed Constellation in TWA colors ...

  • i heard that the current plan is to sell the engines?! at the very least, keep it airworthy as it is now! and the idea to paint 1974 TW colors on one side with 1997 colors on the other is BRILLIANT.

and don't know if you've seen it, but TWA's fanpage on facebook has over 3000 people. i'm sure most, if not all, would be willing to donate to keep this museum flying!

  • ..........and my husband who was in the cockpit loves this plane more than any he has ever flown. What a thrill to be able to see this. The L10 was the best! Thank you planedame1!

  • Awesome!!! I was so glad I was able to make it to see her land in person--and glad you got it on video (I goofed up & didn't get the video I was trying to shoot!).

  • It was cool to be there in person--thank you for posting so that I could share with those that could not be there

  • I enjoyed the landing and can't wait to go to the Museum to see the L10-11 closer. However, I agree that this plane should be made airworthy again, painted in 1974 TWA Colors on one side, and 1997 TWA Colors on the other. I don't think a better tribute could be made. BTW, this shows the true class TWA Mechanics were, the love they put into their jobs and the devotion to quality they comanded.
