A tale of beauty

What is beautiful changes over time and place. Most white people live in the western world, so in that area on the globe, tanned skin is promoted. A tan that most Asian people naturally have. But in Asia and the Middle East where people have this desired darker complexion, a white skin is promoted. The beauty industry cannot make money by telling you your skin looks fine already. So in the west, they tell you to buy bronzing cream and in the east, the same company tells you to buy whitening cream. It is the ultimate example of the beauty industry's sales tactics. They don't really care if you're beautiful as long as you buy their products. Don't believe their riduculous commercials!

I find it astonishing the number of comments that people have posted on this video that make it quite obvious that the people who posted them missed the ENTIRE POINT! They are arguing and talking about whether tan or pale is more "beautiful" when the entire point of the video is that we are all different and it's idiotic to try and conform to other people's ideal of what beauty is and that people should love and accept who they are, how nature made them.

darker/ brown/tanned skin is always better and forever will be...! it makes you look more exotic and healthier! i am so proud of my mixed background i get the skin colour of a light skinned black girl! =)

Im asian and my skin is white but it gets tanned sometimes but always go back to being white after some time, I dont think it really matters. cause its still me, tanned or white. why wont people be contented on their skin?

If anything it's dangerous staying in the sun if you are pale, skin cancer and all, and I have more to do with my life than paying for bronzer!! I spent a few months in Asia and the shelves are full of whitening cream, and here in the UK they are full of bronzer and fake tan! Just be happy with what you have, chil and enjoy life, and find beauty in everyone.

Bit odd how angry people get about this, the video is saying be who you want to be and don't get ruled by the cosmetic industry (did you know the US spend more a year on cosmetics than they do on healthcare?). I have very pale skin and to be honest don't really care, I think there are beautiful people of all colours and creeds, and I have come to love my pale skin.
