yeah, but you guys should say, its(iriver) 3 times more book formats, then amazon.. Nobody cares about stereo spikers at kindle. You choosin ereadear, not a mp3 player, right?! Is anybody using kindle as a music player????
Screen resolution its much better on iriver too.
Is a amazon pays you for this review?)

Scince when, Iriver Story is yellow? Color correction please

Plus I would buy the iRiver, all that other shit on kindle is not necessary. Screen is the most important part. Not so many people need audio books, but I understand Kindle's advantage in that, but that is not necessary for majority of the users, whereas the screen is important to everyone. The screen quality of iRiver is really remarkable, check other comparison videos and you'll see.

Today Google offers 3 million e-books vs. Amazon's 1.4 million. Plus when you buy a google e-book, you can read it on iphone, ipad, any android device, any e-book reader except kindle and on your pc/mac, without any conversion. Any web browser opens google e-books. Plus you can sync your e-books to all these devices via cloud. Whereas with kindle, you can read it only on your pc/mac if you install kindle pc/mac application. Google is already ahead of Amazon and I bet they will open the gap.

You say the story HD would be good with comics and images but never do a comparison on this? seems a rather glaring omission.

Why did you open two different books? You shouldn't compare time in that way.

I purchased a Kindle a year ago (don't recall the model) and returned it because I could not enjoy my PDFs (that is, the e-books I have and acquire for free). The experience was slow and clumsy, difficult to navigate, and just plain awkward.
I want an e-reader that loads PDFs fast, lets me magnify and reduce, navigate around, and read them quickly and easily. Who cares about all the rest?
Is the Story HD device for me?

For me it was the highlighting feature, text to speech and mp3 playback that made an impact, I like to read many books and take notes and if Im travelling I wouldnt mind listening to some background music while Im reading; I initially ordered an Iriver but now changed it to amazon after watching this review.

Hardware wise, it's easy to see why the Kindle is superior. Despite the fact that people probably won't put music onto their Kindle speakers are not going to dissuade people from buying it. It's merely another option (primarily for listening to e-books and such) for the same price as the iriver.
A more prudent question, in my opinion, is the archives of Google as opposed to Amazon. How many books does each marketplace offer and how strict are each readers with specific formats?
I have to agree with the other comments - normally I enjoy your reviews, they're very helpful, but who cares about an mp3 player on an ereader? If I want to listen to music, I can listen to an ipod (or other player). Or an iphone. Or whatever. Personally I'd choose an ereader that is best for reading, which personally, I think is Iriver compared to Kindle. (Though I do wish Iriver would give more options as far as margins, font face/size, etc.).

@genzoxkarl It is not the fact that it plays MP3, but audiobooks! Many people email us asking about what e-reader is the best for them! People walk their dog lots, or commute hours a day and want an e-reader that can handle both books and audiobooks well. So it bears mentioning in our videos because a minor segment of people have the "make or break" philosophy based on the audio functions.
