  • Hi Jayray: Great video! I saw Meteorite Men on TV and remember hearing Gold Basin is a "protected" area and you can't hunt w/o permit there. How does one know where you can hunt freely and where you should not be hunting? Thanks!

  • Neal, thanks for viewing!!! There is a clear line and fence where the Lake Mead National Rec area begins and the BLM area is. Some of the area is claimed by several prospecting clubs, and some private property too. I have permission to hunt the claims, and private property, and BLM is open to all, so I'm covered. Take care, and thanks again.

  • hi nice vedio and nice job too i am interesting about hunting meteorite i think its fun but to be honest i dont know what they do with it after finding it ? u can sell it and to who ?

  • Hi there, thanks for the comments. It depends on personal preference. Some sell them, and some keep them. The more rare the meteorite, the more demand, and the law of supply and demand take over. Just knowing that what you hold in your hand is a piece of space is my reward for finding them. Plus the adventure is worth it, once you find one. Thanks again, and keep looking down!!!!

  • i would like to get a basic, but most effect meatl detector, cost is not a factor.

    How much is that meteor?

I found some years ago in the middle of the nevada desert,i gave it to some guy,who was all excited,i just knew it was heavy and probly a meteor.I'll go back there and if I find thousands more,I'll let you know exactly where.Thats how i roll.

  • Hey, thanks for watching my video!! A good detector brand is Minelab, but they are a bit of the "high end" and mainly Gold machines. The Whites GMT is a gold machine, far cheaper than a Minelab, and will detect as little as a 1 gram meteorite. I would suggest a GMT if you are just starting out. Goo luck hunting and keep looking down!!!
