The 401 that runs through the South end of London, Ontario is the best transportation corridor in the World, with access to the richest market in North America - nearly 200 million people looking to purchase products.
Chris Bentley takes you through his vision for a future of London, a future of innovation, jobs, and prosperity for all Londoners for generations to come... A vision that begs the question: What can you see?
Oetker will buy directly from farmers or organizations representing farmers, many in this area, meaning it will be a boon to the local agricultural industry.
"There are direct jobs and there will be a multiplier of indirect, that is what people cannot see," he said.
The 130 manufacturing jobs will support an additional 300 spinoff jobs.

This is good for London & Farmers - Read the London Free Press article: Dr. Oetker is making its largest investment outside Europe in London, but the biggest winners in the more than $50-million investment might be area farmers.

@1Beanfarmer I agree - local farmers should be included in our city's economic growth. I don't know if you heard, but the new Dr. Oetker plant in London has pledged to get their ingredients from local farms. This is great news that will contribute to our rural economy. I think the province supported this investment because they saw the potential there. They also see the potential for these highway changes to bring trade opportunities for our farmers, and all Londoners. I do too.

While I question developing land on the 401 west of the 402 the Wonderland/401 interchange is needed.
But why are you planning to 'upgrade' the free-flowing VMP/401 interchange into a parclo? That is not free-flowing, stoplights are like a downgrade.

I see a significant number of urban decision makers wholly ignorant of the REAL value that surrounds them. I see a number of people that, still, naively take their local food supply for granted!!

To recap...the current FOB Ontario processed value of this tofu crop is over $1,000/MT before it heads via container to the ports of Montreal, Halifax, or Vancouver. How long before this sort of value will be realized by new end users of the land? How long before these new jobs move on after working in the stench emanating from the London and/or Toronto landfills depending on what way the wind is blowing?

I see a political community squandering more borrowed dollars and trying desperately to show some action because its policies have made our manufacturing sector highly uncompetitive...while at the same time naively hindering the largest industrial base and employer in the province.
