I was going to wait a bit to upload this video because it was not to long ago that this was on youtube. But I was looking through my videos and realized when I titled this video I forgot to put who she sings it with.

I have no idea who she is!?!

Years ago Poor Diahann was criticized for singing too "white" because she didnt sing soulful many of Blacks complained she forgot where she came from.Diahann Carroll sang naturally & she started off on B'Way & when doing show tunes you have to sing them the way that fits the show's style. I think she has a beautiful voice no matter what color she is. Talent is what we see here not the warbling & the vocal rollercoasters the singers go on whenever they sing. Nat King Cole also had a perfect voice

Diahann Carroll is so beautiful. Loved her in JULIA when I was a child. Programs like these allowed us to grow up (at least in a small town) without prejudice. "Julia" was just a beautiful woman to us. And since there were black teachers, store owners, etc., in our town, nothing seemed unusual at all; blacks were just individuals who were slightly different from us -- not unlike those with blond or red hair and fair skin.

They criticized Sammy Davis Jr. (My all time favorite) for the very same thing. I just watched them perform together on her t.v. show in 1976 when he was 50, 14 years before he passed away. Amazing.

Ms. Carroll is still alive and well. Still beautiful, classy and of course, the "essence of elegance" as she has been called. Noone has ever done with a song what Ms. Garland did! Movies either for that matter. Great ladies!!

Extraordinarily beautiful Carroll. NO STRINGS is probably an underrated musical because it was composed by Richard Rodgers who had a few bigger hits. With a resume like his NO STRINGS might appear minor. Great medley by the way: usually they sing the more famous songs, but these were the less famous songs of these great composers.

@filmmekker: Judy also had Count Basie on her show. And as Brendan Konicki said, The Judy Garland Show only lasted for 26 weeks. In addition, she had several other minority guests and/or groups on her show, such as Latino, etc. And this was in 1963!
