This is part 9 of my epic 9 part response / rebuttal to Confused Matthew's "review" of Stanley Kubrick's 2001: A Space Odyssey. I decided to explain 2001 and just how truly "confused" Confused Matthew really is because somebody needs to. IF you are a fan of 2001 and on the fence or not a fan at all of Mr. Confused then this may be for you but be advised, it's long and i may not make too much sense if you haven't seen 2001 or Confused Matthew's review of it.
LOTS OF PEOPLE WATCH THESE VIDEOS. (They also watch Empire Strikes Back - Kershner died a few years ago.) People read the comments to look at the feedback, etc.
If you see no point in this, you also must not see any point in watching these videos.
@twooffour If you think that fine, personally I don't see the point of having a discussion with a dead person, but you can do it if you want. I just wasn't sure in you knew he was dead.
People are still watching this video alongside with CM's review, this exchange is cited at various forums - this was just my way of contributing a bit to it all, so people saying "this Chase totally pwnt that fallacious Matthew" might notice a thing or two.
You know, Kubrick's dead, too.
Can I write some post about a point I feel Siskel's got wrong?
Heck, I hope when *I* die, there will be people willing to deconstruct some super-important thoughts I might have voiced byt hat point!
Overall, this whole exchange is a textbook example of "two opposing parties voicing hit-and-miss criticisms" - most confusing to watch, surely fun breaking down ;)
4:50 I haven't read the paper (something similar was published about Mozart, but that apparently was debunked in further research - not sure exactly how it went down, though), but I'm pretty sure that discussing the Star Wars prequels on a lively forum stimulates your brain more and provides you with more skill than simply watching 2001.
Reading is a more active activity, anyway, but that can be done with different levels of attention and critical thinking, as well.
@buc555
By the way, I started posting these comments (from part 1-9) before I learned about his (probable) death.
Naturally, I was shocked, but I thought I'd just finish. So there, it's already done, been so for 2+ weeks now.

@twooffour Sure, but personally I don't see the point when he's dead. You can do what you want though.

@buc555
Um, haven't I just explained that I wasn't discussing with Chase, but rather posted my commentary on a public platform?
Sure, would be nice if he could read my ramblings, but I'm not exactly PMing him.
(And oh, is there any actual evidence of his death? Saw the obituary, but people have expressed doubts. But probably :( )

And that was my "riff" on Chase's video series.
I almost exlusively responded to the points I DIDN'T agree with, but there obviously were some valid ones, too - it'd just be to much if I had...
