PART 2:The gallery in my town is geared to promoting local and Canadian artists, and I don't think that this is something against other countries it is that the town is small and more people will come out to see a local artist, as apposed to (for lack of a better word) strangers work. I think it is just a financial thing. I would suggest visiting the websites and reading the mandates of the galleries you apply to.

PART 1 :Hello, I am under a friends account so don't harass him. I am not sure where you applied; however you mentioned that they were small galleries. I am Canadian. I live in a border town with a small gallery and I recognize there are a lot of politics when it comes to the selection of artists. Were you familiar with the mandate of each of the galleries you sent your proposal to?

It's a boycott! Just like South Africa in the 80s. Innocent people get hurt, but it puts pressure on the government. You live in a facist state that is run by war criminals. Do something aobut it, and you may be once again admitted to the group of countries that can call themselves civilizec democracies.

But again, what does Bush have to do with art? Most people with common intellengence judge a person by their acts, but where they were born or where they call home...

I live part time in Europe and Canada - I ahve been stopped on the street, mistaken for an American, and yelled at. In 2003 American patronage of French artists went down remarkably - remember "Freedom Fries"? Over 79% of Canad aind and Europeans view the US unfavourably, and most think that your President is the most dangerous man alive. That will certainly affect business.

It is a Canadian issue, not an American issue. 100%! I have been all over & have never experienced any anti American thoughts like this. And you are the ONLY Canadian that I have had that buys into this crap. How would you take it if you were refused comething all because of where you live? As a matter of fact, my grand-father is an Canadian & American citizen... But does this help it? No, not at all!
PART 3: It is just like if you applied to show at an aboriginal gallery to promote aboriginal artists and you were not aboriginal. I don't know if this is the case, best of luck in your creative endeavors.
ps sorry this was long

I've been in shows about Africanism, and I'm clearly not African. I Understand the need for rules, but art galleries should invest in the best work. Thats my point.

Because Americans are imperialists, who control our government, and send military during civil unrest, which is coming from the economic crisis that was created by American greed.
American soldiers coming to canada, are all scum. We have every right to deny you into this country, and we should.
You can't run our country.
