Hangar 9 is famous for its reputation of making excellent sport scale models of popular airplanes. Their newest is a replica of the very popular Vans Aircraft RV-8. The model is constructed from lightweight balsa and plywood. Assembling it is simple because much of the work has already been completed, such as control surfaces that have been pre-hinged and control horns that have already been installed. It also has a very attractive scale trim scheme that is easy to see in the sky. Engines for this bird will range from a 46 two-stroke up to a 62 four-stroke. The model has a number of interesting features, including a large cockpit that is going to give you opportunities to add even more scale detail. Sport pilots will find that the flight performance is excellent, as seen in our video.

Just take a GI Joe, cut it in half and put it in the cockpit.

Jonny, you are right, I tend to lean towards engine powered models in this size bracket so I totally spaced it. But yes it can be setup as Electric easily. In the next H9 model I will be sure and make note of the electric option.

It is an ARF, I am missing your point. It also is a bit larger and more complicated sport scale model, they just aren't going to be cheap.

Ok, who can explain why this can not come in an ARF or a RTF because when you get every thing to build the plane and fly it, it cost as much as getting the tail kit for the real Vans RV-8.
Lower the price and i will buy it.

Jim,
You forgot to mention the Electric option for this bird... I think there will be a lot of these with Brushless/Lipo combos in the air this year. I'm sure thinking about it.

cool. I am on my 5th plane, and my second t-28 that I have mastered. I will think about either this or the hangar 9 saratoga.
