Derek Soberal is kind of like an annoying headache that just won't go away. Which is fine, really. He provides such useful content to critique his crusade to demonize and vilify police officers that it's actually kind of fun.

In this video, Derek Soberal and a loud associate discover, to their consternation, that they will not be allowed into a Toronto bar. So instead of trying to take it up with the manager -- who will not allow them inside -- they instead decide to take it out on a pair of police officers standing nearby.

Shoving cameras in their faces and blaming them for Soberal and his associate not being allowed into the bar, Soberal finally gets the response he very clearly deliberately set out to provoke, as one of the maligned officers grabs him and nearly throws him into the street.

It's hard to feel sorry for him, but easy to feel sympathy for the officer in question: Soberal and his associate have been trying to set the officer off, as is made clear by his associate's celebratory announcement that he "got it".

  • Seems more like YOU'RE the asshole to me ...

Your metaphor doesn't fly - there being a critical difference between animals (bulls) and human beings - namely that humans ostensibly have free will, intelligence, self awareness, and the ability to analyze as well as to make choices and decisions. Additionally, police and law enforcement officers are specially trained and typically VERY well compensated, in addition to being public servants. Really, the onus of responsibility and any sort of appr

  • @hkindt I don't think many police officers would agree that they're "very well compensated", considering the amount of risk they're in.

But I propose an experiment. Go up to virtually anyone else, shove a camera in their face and see how they react. Try it.

  • This video is pure blasphemy. Derek Soberall is a true freedom fighter.

    End of Story.

  • @NikoNikoDMT I'm not surprised to see you use the word "blasphemy", and I suspect Soberal would enjoy that. Derek Soberal the freedom fighter a purely mythical figure.

  • @NikoNikoDMT I think its funny that you all miss the obvious here, the camera that Derek was using in that encounter with the Police is equipped with a digital zoom, yet he still find the need to get into the officers personal space, Derek purposely provoked those officers into reacting on camera. Granted officer Seeters in a cop with a very grainy past, but rest assured that Derek is only asserting himself in the truth movement for the camera time.

  • @Shickane I actually didn't consider that obvious, but thank you for pointing that out. It certainly casts his actions in further context.

  • Soberal fights for society against injustice. Patrick Ross If you have ever met Soberal or grew up with the guy. Knew what his moral character is, The extra mile he goes for his friends, His Family, The extra mile he will be going for people even like YOU one day. You obviously never have met him, You claim that Soberal is a "attention seeker" when all the man does is bring attention to important issues. I hope Soberal runs for politics one day because I will vote for him withtheother99 percent

  • OP is clueless. Patrick Ross get a grip buddy

  • @CreatingAccessNews That IS interesting. This comment opens me up to the possibility that you may be more on the level than I previously suspected. Send me a private message. I'd like to discuss getting your side of the story.

  • @CreatingAccessNews Soberal seems to enjoy ranting and raving about holding police officers accountable for their actions.

I see no reason why Soberal shouldn't be held accountable for his own actions, particularly in the lengths he will go to in order to provoke, or possibly even falsify as in the case of his pivotal missing footage, instances of police brutality.

  • @PatrickRoss45 We all have flaws, as does Derek, but does everyone devote so much time to issues that they have passion about as he does? I am not sure you spending so much time on this points to Derek being an 'asshole' as it does to you being obsessed with the guy enough to do this. *raises eyebrow*
