  • @manholewisdom You definitely sound like a man I can relate to.

  • @gregvancom haha first and only time someone told me he forgot more than I'll ever know

I thought " what an "A" hole. I was a kid hodying for a crew of plasters. Turned out that old man was right. However all that knowledge don't do much good unless we're writing a book...lol Then the only people who would read it is those who want to learn how it used to be done. Drywall is a sucky trade , I tell people to get out of it while their young.

  • @manholewisdom If you've done it for 15 years my friend, then you probably know more than I could ever imagine. You've got a good point, I've just never ran into a situation like the one you're referring to. As far as forgetting what you did in the past, I couldn't agree more. Even though our minds wander into the past every once in a while without suffering, our bodies will remind us for the rest of our life, what we did.

  • I started in the drywall industry in 1974 and got out in 1997, 15 years of it, all over southern california. From Palm Springs to LA to Laguna to Bakersfield.

Those experience are remembered well. Yeah it's my opinion and really, I've forgot more about drywall than you'll ever know. (about drywall) But that's a good thing, a real good thing friend. trust me on that one:)

  • @gregvancom sheeting the entire thing may not be necessary. But blocking would have been the minimum. I know you don't have to overkill those details but going back in on your own dime after the project is completed is not a pleasant experience.

  • @manholewisdom Well then go ahead and sheet the entire thing, however I don't think it would be necessary. I don't even think it would be necessary for half inch drywall, but the builder I was working with at the time, used 5/8's. Have you ever experienced this or is it just your opinion, I would love to see some pictures, if you have them.

  • @gregvancom I'd sheet that hole thing with osb or/and provide blocking in between all those inside and outside counters you created there. perimeter fasteners should be around 8" oc. sooner or later those corners will take a dump.

  • @manholewisdom No believe it or not, the drywall goes right over the framing and this project has been finished for quite some time now. What would you actually sheer panel?

  • looks like a bunch off cracked drywall waiting to happen. I sheer panel that one for sure.

  • @P47ThunderboltJug Interesting, I didn't know that.
