Vancouver's skyline changed forever May 4 when the air-supported fabric roof of B.C. Place Stadium was deflated. The 1983-opened stadium hosted the 2010 Winter Olympics' opening and closing ceremonies. It is scheduled to reopen in summer 2011 with a $458 million retractable roof. It took 48 minutes for the roof to completely deflate.
whats the point of this?

I visited BC Place Stadium in Vancouver in 2001, and I saw what a humongous structure it is (especially from the inside), but wasn't impressed with the stadium overall, as it had a very sterile feeling & appearance. All that should change once the new retractable roof is installed & BC Place Stadium opens September 2011. Watching this video, the deflation of the air-bubble roof looks like a souffle collapsing! It'll be a thrill to see the new roof (even on television)!
GO BC LIONS!!!
